Thank You and Good Bye

Kristi a Week 3 Rahab's Sisters volunteer came to be with her Sisters for the last time Friday July 20.  Next month she is marrying and moving to Idaho.  We, her sisters who are volunteers and who are guests are going to miss her beautiful smile and demeanor.  Kristi is an exceptional person who will make a difference in the world wherever she may be.

Gwen Swanson

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Gwen Swanson July 12, 2012.  She had a very aggressive form of cancer that was discovered little more than a month ago.    Her Caring Bridge website contains information as well as personal journal entries by herself and her family: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/Gwenswanson.  

There will be a service in her memory at Mosaic, 1832 NE Cesar Chavez Blvd (NE 39th), Portland 97212 on Monday July 16, 11:00am followed by a light lunch.

Rahab's Sisters and Scarlet Cord Become One

It's official!  Scarlet Cord effective immediately will initiate the dissolution of their 501(c)(3) status and merge into Rahab's Sisters.  At the July 10, 2012 Rahab's Sister/Scarlet Cord/Our Mother's House board meeting; Scarlet Cord announced their decision to merge into Rahab's Sisters.  Rahab's Sisters voted to accept Scarlet Cord with the caveat that the Scarlet Cord name be retained and used for the Volunteers serving vulnerable and marginalized women directly on the streets and in the clubs and the Rahab's Sisters name will continue for the Volunteers providing hospitality at Saints Peter and Paul on Friday nights.  Our Mother's House will continue to operate as a project of Rahab's Sisters directly serving prostitutes and their children.
